Independency is the Most Precious Thing in the World

Perhaps when we were kids, we used to listen to what our parents told to do, such as, never forget to brush your teeth before going to bed, not to make friends who are jerks (for them), to study minimum 3 hours per day, to take piano lessons, etc. When we have been growing up, we usually make our dos’ and don’ts.

If you take a glance on those things, you must find yourself very proud if you can be a very good boy, since by doing so, which are generally assumed to be very useful, you can practice yourself real world in the future. However, look into the deep of the idea behind those things, which I think not very well understood by most people, that is to make yourself as though you’re a junkie. I think by always trying to be consistent with those rules, you will let yourself fall in a dependency, though positive one, but dependent is dependent. Period! When you don’t do what it tells, you find yourself guilty and start blaming yourself, then the result you will get might be
much worse off.

Have you ever thought why crazy people, on our views, look very happy? I think because they feel fully free to do anything they want without ever thinking what others might comment. One of the principles of neoclassical economics tells us that these people have exogeneous preferences. The moral message behind this is not to ‘mengharamkan’ you make such rules, I actually suggest you to write down self-disclipinary rules instead. But what I wanna suggest here is that when you are not on the mood to do those things just let it go, since by doing so you might feel what the real life is. Life is all about independency! As Plato said, “do what you consider is right thing to do”. As for me, independency is the most precious thing in the world, not even money can beat it! So, be fully independent!
